Oh, now I get it! Ken cuts down the trees while Yori takes out the leaves! It all makes so much sense now! Together they will open NO NEED FOR BRUSH-IDO! They will trim and/or remove your bush-idos, and your tree-idos.
Reminds me of the day my pistol instructor told me “Now quit wasting bottles.” and proceeded to shoot out the larger pieces left from the one shot broken bottles. I get the feeling that Yori is gonna have to “Stop wasting leaves” and has to start slicing them in quarters or eighths before they hit the ground.
I think these Matrix training sessions are a testament to Ina’s abilities. Here Matrix is, giving swords and advice on how to fight to all the others, while Ina just had to be told that others had problems, too. Sure, that makes her the least considerate person in a group that includes Ken, but she knows how to do her job and, now that she’s aware of them, will probably play a big part in solving the others’ problems.
go yori go! (poor ina)
Tadashii: Sometimes you cut the leaf, sometimes the leaf cuts you.
Ken might also make the tree fall on you.
Tadashii’s got some old Russian blood in him.
OK… so when is she going to make her point?
yeah CUT to the chase
We need more SLASH fiction!
CUT it out, you guys. You don’t have that RAZOR SHARP wit.
Guys, no matter how you SLICE it, someone has to be BLUNT.
You cut me to the quick, sir.
I think we need to sheath this conversation.
Is this our sheath and desist?
It is a most PENETRATING question!
But we haven’t even gotten to the PUNCH line yet
Too DULL! You need to SHARPEN your wits!

Little did they know, the TREEVENGANCE was coming…
Let the bromancing begin! But What is Cho’s role in this tree takedown?
He does the marketing.
“The ugly tree that is not promptly cut down will surely attract the wrath of spiteful neighbors.”
He’s Shedder.
And now Ken just cuts through the tree? One man and one sword for one role, another man and another sword for another role?
Tree cutting and leaf cutting are, perhaps, not very equal goals.
“Almost indefinitely” is nearly the most ambiguous statement I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
Note the operative word, “almost”.
That’s Joe’s brilliance shining through.
I’m going to find a way to use it in conversation someday. Will let you know how it goes.
My thoughts exactly, got a good chuckle out of that.
Only one leaf? You ain’t done till you can cut all of them before any single one falls to the ground!
Blindfolded
With both your arms tied behind your back. And don’t forget that anchor tied to your legs, while you’re thrown into the sea.
That’s it, that’s the training.
Can we set the sea on fire?
NO! That would make things too easy!
Don’t forget the cloth over your mouth, can’t have students thinking they can get away with biting the sword!
Ina’s impotent rage is kind of adorable.
It’s her most appealing quality!
Reminds me of the day my pistol instructor told me “Now quit wasting bottles.” and proceeded to shoot out the larger pieces left from the one shot broken bottles. If for no other reason, because Matrix can…
HMMM…

Let’s not put Ina down too much! Ken got sword advice AND had to be told friends matter!
When was he told that? I don’t quite recall that.

I guess it’s more that he was told not to get his friends killed, but that still implies he’s not a very considerate person.
Hmm… I guess I just took that as a support for Matrix’s argument that he needs to fight smarter, not as a separate point altogether.
*Ken punches Suburban Samurai across the room* That’s fer sayin’ I’m not considerate!
In other news Fall is here.
Winter is coming!
Cool it, this is NN4B, not “Game of Thrones” (although there are similarities…).
So I guess Ina is being trained to focus her anger intro cosmic powers because she looks about ready to detonate in the background there.
“Now Ken, slice the leaves”
*chop*
“I said the leaves, not the tree”
“The tree has lots of leaves on it”
