And we’re back! I guess talking politics is a big turn on for these two. Must be the world they live in, though. You just can’t separate your personal life from your professional life when you’re a fugitive third party in a brewing war!

I went on vacation for a bit, picked up Fire Emblem Fates the day I left. I have every intention of playing all three campaigns, but I’m currently working on Birthright (If you ask me ‘samurai or knights?’, I’m going samurai! so predictable). I’m loving it so far. My favorite character is probably Hana, but that’s a tough choice amongst a great cast (except for Azama, I hate that guy). The support conversations are still my favorite part of the game! I know it’s going to take me forever to beat because I’m obsessed with unlocking them all. Word of warning, if you want the ninja Kaze to survive past chapter 15, you have to get him to at least an A Rank relationship with the main character, regardless of whether you’re playing on casual mode or not! GOODBYE KAZE, I didn’t even get your offspring before you fell! It’s stuff like that which demands multiple playthroughs, but after I finish the other two campaigns, I may be Fire Emblem’d out! Granted, I have probably put more time into Fire Emblem Awakening than I have any other game I’ve ever owned, so…maybe I won’t be? (Favorite Fire Emblem Awakening character is either Lonqu or Owain, for the record.)

Also, I saw Zootopia and it’s pretty much the most brilliantly relevant animated film of our time, so everyone should probably go see that. I love Wreck It Ralph and Inside Out, and I think Zootopia’s a better film than both simply for its current relevance. Easily my favorite film of 2016 so far (not that I’ve seen many films in 2016 yet).    …I also have a weak spot for buddy cop movies.

  5. IDPounder says:

These two have come a long way since jumping off a cliff together. Then again, that’s basically what they’re contemplating again, politically.

  6. Bladedwind says:

Nice panel….though what made my day was the comment section about Fire Emblem “(except for Azama, I hate that guy)” and my immediate reaction was “Yeah, **** that guy!” >.>

Btw, minor spoilers (it’s pretty obvious), but Owain is actually in Fates. I went Conquest on hard classic for my first playthrough because I’m apparently a glutton for punishment. Conquest doesn’t fuck around; I constantly need more gold.

    • Galeden says:

Thank god for those dlc maps then, eh?

      • leavescat says:

Seems a bit out of the conquest spirit though.

        • Galeden says:

My friend picked up conquest and was having issues trying to clear even a single turn without a casualty, it makes it more user friendly, rather than the game breaking Phoenix mode.

          • RickRussellTX says:

I understood some of those words.

          • leavescat says:

Not sure what you mean by Phoenix mode, but it’s not THAT bad. I’m on chapter 22 of Hard Classic and while my team isn’t invincible they’re certainly strong enough to do the job. The issue is that there are so many enemies with dual strike and unexpected skills that can straight up end a unit if you’re not very careful. Having a general helps a lot (Benny), because their lv 5 skill makes follow-up attacks impossible in battles involving them. Benny’s good because his personal skill gives Avo-10 to all enemies within 2 spaces, and he has pretty high resistance too. Doing some reclassing for extra skills helps a lot which is why I’m low on money. Arthur is a berserker that went through Hero for Sol and Sniper (he married Mozu) for +40 accuracy when initiating attacks. End result, with beserker crit bonus, -15 dodge personal skill, +10 crit on gamble, and killer axe he has 65% crit chance and 100% hit when attacking or supporting a dual strike. I also reset a few times when Mozu or someone could get a level in the first turn to make sure they got a decent number of stats in their level.

          • leavescat, I’m coming to you for pro strats when I start Conquest and hit a point where I want to throw my 3DS across the room. You’re definitely more into the stats than I am! I’m just in it for the great characters and epic music.

          • leavescat says:

Necessity is the mother of invention. Hard said “for veteran players” which made me feel like I had to go with that, but it wasn’t kidding. Everything in Conquest is designed to kill you. The main thing is that offence is more effective than defense in Fates, with all the skills that give you bonuses upon attacking (+5 effective speed, +4 damage, -10 damage taken, +40 accuracy, +30 avoid, etc.). Basically means you need 3 things: Units which can erase enemies, units whose unrivaled defense allows them to take multiple hits from anything, and a competent healer. Since you can’t attack twice in pair ups like Awakening, a guy with perfect hit and >60% crit is really valuable even if he doesn’t attack directly; he makes everyone a sweeper.

    • Like the whole Awakening cast is in Fates in the form of the children characters! Just slightly renamed and with different clothes.

  10. Xinef says:

Ok Matrix, you can stop hiding now. And put down that camera!

  11. Galeden says:

Actually, you don’t even get Kaze’s offspring unless he survives that chapter (I keep multiple save files handy, just in case)

    • I realized I had a save from before I’d lost Kaze. So I opted to start again from that save file, effectively putting myself back 25 hours (I was spending a lot of time grinding for S Ranks). NO REGRETS because Kaze and Corrin’s relationship is pretty great! And now I can marry off Kaze to, I dunno, Azura, maybe.

  12. Flaming Squirrel says:

Yori, I know what your hands are thinking, but you MUST NOT DO IT.

I also went to see Zootopia and loved it! I expected to like it, but not nearly as much as I did! My only complaint was that I totally predicted who the bad guy was going to be. It’s always the person they’re making every effort to NOT look like a bad guy. Still an awesome movie, and the only reason I didn’t cry during the apology scene was because I was in a theater stuffed full of little kids, and that would have been detrimental to my manhood.

    • Children ruin movies. We saw a 10:30pm showing, past most kids bedtime, so the theater was nearly empty and devoid of children.

Judy’s systemic racism confession to Nick was especially powerful to me because it recalled this painfully awkward/embarrassing moment in college that haunts me years later that I’m not going to relate here! But, yeah, it hit me hard. Everyone should see Zootopia. But then again, everyone should watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and they don’t! The world might be a better place if they did.

      • Flaming Squirrel says:

The kids at this theater weren’t so bad. The ones at Kung Fu Panda 3 were way worse, especially the kid right in front of me who thought he had to narrate the entire movie for his parents.

      • Drunken Nordmann says:

“Children ruin movies. We saw a 10:30pm showing, past most kids bedtime, so the theater was nearly empty and devoid of children.”
Tell me about it – when a friend and I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy, we made the mistake of going at a time when children were not in school/supposed to be at home, so we had these three young boys sitting behind us and being obnoxious the whole film – with everyone in the room throwing them annoyed looks now and then. My friend and another adult sitting behind the brats tried to shut them up a few times.

For some reason they were in a hurry to leave the cinema afterwards, probably because some audience members were genuinely seething in their seats. My friend and I took care of not repeating this mistake in the future.

At least people were respectful at the showing of the new Star Wars one day after the premiere, with a massive round of applause when the credits started to roll.

But seriously, I hate people talking in the cinema, especially if they’re behaving like they want to entertain the whole audience. There has to be a special place in hell for them. I mean, why are you even going to a Cinema if you don’t watch the film?

I should factor this in when – or better if I’m going to watch Zootopia. It mostly depends on my friend. I hate going the Cinema alone and if he doesn’t have time or is interested, I won’t go and later watch it with him when he’s got it on DVD.

  13. TheMaskedFerret says:

I’m waiting for the real Ina to show up now and ask Yuri who he is kissing, because he is actually kissing a ninja dressed like Ina.

  14. Leo says:

So, I was thinking… Not always do the NN4B characters have irises, that’s for sure.

But when they do, do they all have brown eyes? What other colors are there?

    • This is mostly me being lazy, but, yeah, other than the foreign characters, everyone has brown eyes. This is basically because most Japanese residents have dark hair and brown eyes. Of course there’s still plenty of variation among the country’s population, but having subtle eye and hair color variation between the rather substantial cast of the comic would just be a lot more work! I consider not having to keep track of that stuff a perk of setting the comic in feudal Japan.

  15. The Meh says:

Something tells me you took a lot of time drawing out that bottom-left panel to beauty.

  16. Scott Henry says:

I hope the chinese dude wandered off far enough that he doesnt hear these two getting it on.

  17. Scott Henry says:

Now comes the hentai version of NNFB

  18. Arkone Axon says:

I’m thinking about how much BETTER these two are than Romeo and Juliet. Those two didn’t give two figs about anyone except themselves and their lusts. These two are drawn to each other not by physical charms or adolescent desires but by a genuine and mutual admiration for each other. “I want to do the honorable thing and help my people.” “So do I.” “That’s making me SO attracted to you.” “Likewise.”

  23. Kid Chaos says:

Aw, look, they really do love each other! 😍

  24. Frank Royce Harr says:

    Awww, it’s so sweeet!

I hope it works out for these two. Don’t tell me. No spoilers!
