That, my friends, is the sort of collaborative creative freedom that goes on in our comic making process.
Sometimes it results in unexpectedly awesome lines (Ina’s adlib on this very page is one such example). Sometimes, it guarantees that I will never sleep again…

Competition is tough, but I vote Yori for most unwise sentence in NN4B.
Yori does have a nasty habit of catching foot-in-mouth disease. 😛
He DOES make a good point. After all, he’s showing a responsible attitude. He’s not saying he doesn’t want her or that he doesn’t love her, merely that he thinks their union won’t help either of their clans.
He’s wrong, of course. But you can’t fault him for trying to do what’s right – for all his relatives and dependents AND her own. If she’s been maturing as well, this is her cue to tell him how their union can actually help the situation, rather than yell at him for now being selfishly focused on his own desires ahead of the needs of his people.
The, “ten-thousand feet of the ancestors,” technique is normally considered impossible to survive, but Yori doesn’t seem bound by the limits of mere mortals when it comes to fitting feet in his mouth.
Yori has such a way with words, very charming!

That glare face is ugly. She’s not that hot. He could do way better. Plus shes bitchy. Why are the men such pansies in this? Why not have a man who DOESN’T fall for the bitchy girl? Instead he gets way more confident and goes for a nicer woman with less immaturity, bitchiness and self esteem issues! I mean it would be far more original…
You are only partially right. He’s a nice guy (and you know what they say about those), but he definitely isn’t a pushover.
When you’re in a commited relationship, you get to run certain games. The whole ‘jealous wife / don’t take me for granted’ thing is one of those. Plus, this is a comedy story, you’re looking into this way too seriously 😉
She did push back an army, and while she’s been needing rescues for most of their relationship, she’s done the occasional rescuing of Yori herself. So it’s not as if she’s completely worthless. Temperamental? Yes. But not worthless.
Do you know how difficult is it to find a girl that does like sweaty samurais these days? He can turn a blind eye to a little crankiness.
The thing is, he is happy with her. So as long as this is true, why should he care if she’s bitchy?
Also, if you’re looking for someone in NN4B who might get into a relationship with a less bitchy girl, look at Ken. Yumiko might have her issues, but for an orphan who witnessed the slaughter of her entire family, she’s holding quite well.
