Poor ninja guard. He really should request a reassignment.

I was plotting out this story arc a while back and thought, “Wait a minute. Why would Fujio and Fumio think Masuhiro was still captured?”

Oh, I could point out that Masuhiro’s continued imprisonment has been confirmed by Yukizane and General Tanaka, but that doesn’t really solve the problem, as the bandits would have only recently gotten that update. All previous actions were based on Ina’s (correct) assumption that her father couldn’t escape his way out of an open field.

Then Alex pointed out that the bandits are idiots – so who cares!

That’s right, my friends! Fujio and Fumio are just bumbling along like, um, like a couple of webcomic creators who make stuff up as they go.

That Ina face is so good.

    • http://www.nn4b.com suburban_samurai

If by good you mean TERRIFYING, then yes!

  • CC

    your explanation is hillarious!

    • http://www.nn4b.com suburban_samurai

      It’s a true story, I assure you!

  • Breakfast

Ino looks pretty good in Ninja Garb.

    • http://www.nn4b.com suburban_samurai

Ina would roll her eyes at such a compliment! (while secretly being pleased)

      • Breakfast

Is that before or after she leaves a red hand-shaped mark across my cheek?

  • Hfar

Ninja masks always make death glares about ten times as intense.

    • http://www.nn4b.com suburban_samurai

I think that’s their primary purpose. Anonymity is secondary.

  • Sunwu

I’m sure they can rest in the fact that the same ninja could not have possibly been knocked out or incapacitated for that long a time and still be in the laying down in the cell, Ninja’s are not messy people they don’t leave KO’d or dead comrades in cells for…weeks or however long it’s been since they escaped.

    • Eltharrion

Well, that, or they could be stuck in a time-loop. You know, one where they’ve arrived at the ninja hideout just moments after they left, and are going to spend next few weeks/months (or years to us) inside running after Masushiro and basicly altering his every escape by accident so that they all end in failure, thus creating the timeline where they must come in and save him…
…Yeah, I’m thinking way too much on this.

      • http://www.nn4b.com suburban_samurai

You can never think too much about time travel! Looper didn’t and look how craptastic that movie turned out to be! (PS. I didn’t like Looper!)

        • slogra

For that comment, I will capture you and send you back in time so that my younger self can execute you in a Kansas field.

        • KungFuKlobber

Finally, someone else who didn’t like Looper! I spotted two major story-breaking plot holes, which I won’t discuss here because spoilers.

          • http://www.nn4b.com suburban_samurai

Is them stealing a train one of the plot holes? Because that could mess up the timeline pretty bad!

          • Sunwu

All I’m hearing from this is that Yori will be Marty Mcfly Cho be Doc and Ken as Biff in the best nn4b back to the future cross over ever.

Cho: Yori, once the rickshaw reaches 5mph that will give the “Bird fish flux capacitor” enough power to travel back through time and save the Daisuke Clan from being killed.

          • http://www.nn4b.com suburban_samurai

That’s a remix idea if ever I heard one!

          • KungFuKlobber

I don’t think the train is worse than any of the other meddling Doc and Marty did. But they didn’t even need that steam engine! All they had to do was siphon gasoline from the DeLorean Doc brought with him in the lightning storm, which would have had enough in the tank to send Marty’s DeLorean back to 1985.

The other one was that bringing Clara into the future wouldn’t mess up the timeline as Doc claimed it would, because she was supposed to be dead anyhow.

        • Speedy Marsh

I think it’s more like Groundhog Day. Masuhiro has to keep repeating the same day, until he actually completes his escape.

      • Hfar

That is some Red vs. Blue level time paradoxary going on there.

  • Anonymouse

Wait… They never changed Masuhiro’s guard?

    • charles81

They did say that he was the ninja’s BEST guard. Wasn’t his fault that Masuhiro is one of the best escape artists.

Did this guy ever get a name? I feel like he deserves to be a named character after what he’s been through.

      • http://www.nn4b.com suburban_samurai

        His name is Lucky, actually!

        • charles81

LULZ – I totally forgot that.

…Poor lucky. Maybe the heads will get taken out by our heroes and he’ll end up in charge of the ninja clan. If he’s they’re best guard he still must be pretty high in the ranks.

        • Speedy Marsh

Since he’s a murderous assassin who had the misfortune of being assigned to be Masuhiro’s guard, I’m guessing his full name is Bad Lucky.

  • Charvale

Now watch, while the gang are trying to leave the ninja tunnels, they get ordered by Ayane to take Masuhiro back to his cell.
    =^_^=
That would be both interesting, and ironic in the same collection of panels.

    • http://www.nn4b.com suburban_samurai

Stop writing the comic for us, geez!!

      • Charvale

        … =O.O= …
I’m sorry. Seriously, I’m just thinking of stuff that would both be funny and ironic, and just posting it! I shall, from now on, curb my theories and stick to commenting on what’s going on in the current page.

  • Zapmolcuno

I’m beginning to think that Fumio and Fujio are self-inserts

    • Speedy Marsh

NNFB already had mysterious future people, to keep the plot and the battles on track. All it needed was a couple of stooges from the future, to keep the comedy on track. XD
