Hey, It’s that promised extra update! As you can see, the tree did not fall on Ken, but I’m sure it gave the idea some thought.
Just to reiterate, Friday (4/24) at 9PM EDT will be our NN4B SMASH BROS NIGHT. Joe’s WiiU username is jwkovell, his SKYPE username is ALSO jwkovell, and we’ll have skype set up. We’ll also put a Skype button on the site so, assuming you have Skype installed, you’ll be able to push the Skype button and immediately connect with us. If you have no Skype, though, you can also tweet us @SuburbanSamurai @jwkovell. I hope at least one other person shows up to mitigate the pummeling I will receive from Joe’s many proficient characters. Oh how I lament the loss of Snake!

Plot twist: Ken’s sword is so blunt he’s basically been using a twenty foot long club- and he can still cut down trees with it.
That is an adequate descriptor of Ken’s abilities.
That, plus his ability to breathe sake like a fish.

Actually, the bigger the sword the less sharp it is likely to be: the big European swords, at least, are dull on purpose so that you don’t chip the blade when you’re bashing your way through suits of steel plate before carving up the man inside. But they can still cut! Know that duel scene in Rob Roy where Rob cuts the lord’s bastard from left shoulder to right hip, through the rib cage? Completely realistic use of a Claymore in the hands of a man big enough, strong enough, and smart enough to use it right. Ken’s zanbatou was prolly sharper, this new one sharper still so armor is not gonna be a problem . . . and it’s still big enough to serve as a shield against an inevitable barrage of musket balls!
When destroying bone it is better to avoid cutting the fleshy parts. If your blade, club, maul, or hammer bounces then you deliver more energy to the target and the recoil brings your steel back to a ready position. If you plunge into soft material the blade can get stuck. A knight could get flailed upside the head while trying to extract a sword. The helmet might be fine but the knight has a concussion, a neck injury and is off his feet.
Presumably if Ken doesn’t keep up the repayments he will end up being repossessed and added to the stash of clan relics too.
Yumiko probably wouldn’t mind so much.
I can just picture that treasure room with Ken frozen in carbonite on one wall.
I would be all about joining in the smash shenanigans, but I’ll be right in the middle of my shift at work, so no smash for me :-/
You should make a Mii fighter that quasi-emulates snake…it won’t be perfect but it’ll be something (the problem being only fighters do the punches & kicks, but only gunners have the grenades & fun toys…)
Mii Fighter’s surprisingly great, and we had some fun Friday night. We’ll do it again, though. We may be able to shift the times around if you’re itching to join in!

Some people leave pictures for potential loved ones, some leave watches, or even a lock of hair. For Ken and Yumiko, a big ass sword will suffice.

There are many stages involved, I assure you. It’s not just a one and done affair!
It will not stay sharp for long if using it for chopping trees becomes a habit.
But then, it´s a manga sword. They are like lightsabers: cutting through everything without any damage for the blade.
That’s how I like my cartoon blades, impossibly sharp and invulnerable.
