The metacarpal on the thumb should be shorter and off to the side of the rest.
Looking down on a closed fist you would see the metacarpals. The phalanges will be vertical and mostly below the knuckle. The knuckle is the point you normally use to punch and is the end of the metacarpal and beginning of the phalanges. Panel 1 and 4 and the outline in panels 2 and 3 show a closed fist. The bones in panel 2/3 look more like an open palmed “long fist” or “leopard punch”.
