I’m going to rely on context to make the connection that Genchu cares about Yorikiro and therefore the future of the clan.
If it were a matter of revenge, Hirotomo would be dead. If it were a matter of Yorikiro’s safety, that could be achieved by taking him into hiding. Instead, Genchu is giving him a position of power over a major clan – not an easy job.
