Sorry, Masuhiro, you’re old news!
Vote for NN4B on Top Webcomics for a slightly different take on this page.
You know, I’ve wondered for a while, what’s the point of a ninja mask you can be seen smirking through?
You may have noticed, but all of their gear conforms well to the various curves of their bodies.
It’s smirk-appropriate apparel.
I think it’s more to obscure facial features so you’re not as easy to identify, but in No Need for Bushido, ninja wear masks because it’s what ninja are supposed to wear. You know, according to the NINJA BASICS HANDBOOK.
Jealousy ill becomes you, Masuhiro.
Maybe it’s just suspicion. After all, Masuhiro has a beautiful wife waiting at home for him!
Oh look a Sake bottle
Right. Her “back.” 😉
Again, I think there’s not a single straight man who wouldn’t want to look at that “back” in that outfit…
“Scratch that back and gimmie more… From the front to the middle to the back to the end… back, back, back, back it up… back it up and do it again!” 😉
Are you INSINUATING that Yukizane holds in his head impure thoughts of any sort?? How could you possibly come to such a conclusion looking upon that cherub-like visage?
Does that 3rd panel look “cherub-like” to you?
It sort of looks like a mischievous monkey to me.
Ooo lets see! out of the 36 stratagems Yukizane has already done “guest becomes the host.” But I think he’s “hiding a knife behind a smile.” With his brother in law.
Don’t get sucked into tv tropes! You’ll never escape!
I make it a point to escape from tvtropes daily. Usually by falling asleep, which my computer eventually notices and follows my example…
It’s a little sad when the ninja amazon queen seems to prefer the short tubby strategist over the built and significantly taller warrior. I guess that just goes to show you really do need a brain to get anywhere in life.
Make it so!
Many of the richest people in the world would not exactly qualify as ‘lookers’!
This looks like one of those comics begging people to replace the text.
SUPER FROWN 9000!
It says “Maybe I should just kill ’em all; it’s the only way to be sure.” 😀
And he gets to hang around with at least 2 ninja hotties… and dude, Samurai did Guerilla warfare of a sort. The idea that Samurai always did honorable up front combat is laughable. They didn’t “assassinate” people but traps, hiding under those grass cloak things in a field and then hopping up and attacking? They did stuff like that. I think Masu has played too much D&D or something…
Ninja were basically samurai clans that specialized in ungentlemanly warfare. Of couse, a true unglentleman can fight ungentlemanly even with English lords as soldiers, but Yukizane is exactly in the right place for his campaign…
lol “ungentlemanly”. Please, that’s a stupid train of thought made up by generals to justify war. What’s so gentlemanly about killing a lot of people with swords or guns or anything at all?
The fact that we are commenting in NN4B and that I made a clumsy pun with the word indicates how much stock I put in the nobility and honor of conventional war :)… In the immortal words of W. T. Sherman:
“War is cruelty, and you cannot refine it; (…)”
Ninja were not samurai: they were clever peasants who taught themselves sneaky tactics and developed weapon from farming equipment in order to fight against the samurai when they grew corrupt and oppressive.
The samurai themselves also started out as peasants who took up swords to fight against the excessive taxes imposed by corrupt and decadent nobility, and were then recruited by the Emperor to become the core of his military to fight the Ainu (an ethnic group that lived throughout Japan before the Yamato, the modern Japanese, arrived).
Ninja were eventually employed by the powers that be, the Shogun and his Daimyos as well as the Emperor and what few noble families weren’t replaced by samurai, but were never really legitimized the way the samurai were.
This has been Unnecessary Historical Edification, with your host Neska.
Masuhiro in the last panel has the exact same facial expression as a gray-bearded man on a billboard for a local carpet store. The words “Fancy a good shag?” next to his face are both creepy and hilarious at the same time. Here are some nicer comparisons.
I support this new meme.
SKEPTICAL DAIMYO IS SKEPTICAL!
Masuhiro: “But, but I thought we had something. I’d escape, you’d recapture me . . . we had real moments together!”
Oh, I think she’ll scratch more than your back if you ask her…
